Arrange two office monitors around your main task
Choose a primary screen, connect the complete route and match the digital layout to the desk.

Choose a working arrangement before choosing a second screen
Write down what would live on each screen. If one holds your main document and the other holds reference material, place the main task in front of you and the reference screen beside it. If both are used equally, try a balanced arrangement with your normal chair and keyboard position. This is a practical experiment, not a requirement to buy two identical panels. A portable reference display and a larger fixed display may solve a different problem from two matched desktop monitors.
Trace the connections
Record the computer model, each monitor input and the exact cable or dock between them. Dell P1425 identifies USB-C display inputs that require DisplayPort Alt Mode, along with separately stated power pass-through. A socket's shape does not prove the computer can send the required video signal. Check the host documentation for supported external-display count and the intended resolution and refresh arrangement. If you use a dock, add its documented host and operating-system requirements to the map.
Make the operating system match the room
Microsoft's multiple-monitor guidance explains identifying displays and arranging their positions in Display settings. Use Identify to associate the numbered rectangles with the physical screens, then move those rectangles to match your desk. Test moving the pointer across the edge you expect. Extend gives the screens parts of one desktop; Duplicate repeats the same content. Choose the mode for the task rather than treating a duplicated picture as proof that extending is unavailable.
Troubleshoot one connection at a time
Start with a direct connection to one display. Confirm a stable image, then add the second route. Check the selected input and cable before changing software settings. Record the working resolution and refresh rate for each monitor. If one screen has a different scale or orientation, adjust it deliberately and test window movement between them. The operating system can arrange displays without making their physical heights match, so adjust the stand separately.
Keep the complete footprint visible
Two advertised diagonals do not tell you the width of the arrangement or the depth taken by the bases. Draw the complete outer dimensions and leave room for connectors behind the screens. Keep the main work area reachable after adding them. Office Home Supply describes a setup procedure and manufacturer connection facts; it does not claim to have tested your computer, dock and display combination.
